The Year is 2012. The goal is 2012 miles. The amount to raise is at least $2012. Sensing a theme? Sisters-in-law Melanie and Rebecca Twitchell feel that 2012 is going to be the year of change for several individuals and organizations. It is clear that people are tired of excuses, are taking control and making plans for moving forward.
To honor this momentum, the sisters have joined forces to bike ride 2012 miles throughout 2012 with the intent of raising at least $2012 for Adoption Rhode Island. The organization was chosen because of the riding duo's shared passion for helping kids and because it is an organization that clearly upholds its commitment to its vision, mission and values.

If anyone would like to be a part of the "Moving Forward - Together it is Possible" campaign, here is the who, what, when, where and why of getting involved ... literally!
WHO – anyone can participate!
Individuals – goal is to reach 2012 miles on your own of some type of physical activity that is moving you forward in mileage.Teams (families, office teams, meet ups, social groups, mom groups, etc) – goal is to reach 2012 miles of some type of physical activity that is moving you forward together as a team ... add up what each person contributes and add it to the mileage pot!
WHAT – any type of physical activity that is moving you forward and tracked in mileage!
- Roller Blades/Roller Skating (if we had a roller derby team get in on this, we would be in LOVE! Just sayin)
WHEN – any time!
In fact, start calculating those miles right now ... whether you're working out at home, at the gym, on the way to the office or at weekend meet ups, keep a pad and paper handy to keep track of your miles!
WHERE – anywhere!
Maybe your office team wants to take a walk around the block every day. Or perhaps you are scheduled for a 45 mile hike on your next vacation. You can track those miles anywhere! Check out the Facebook page to find out where other supporters will be and meet some new people!
HOW – five easy steps!
- Decide if this will be an individual goal or a team goal
- Decide on your preferred way of getting those miles
- Decide how you will track your miles (odometer, pen and paper, amazing memory, etc)
- "Like" the page created on Facebook, tell us who you are, become part of the conversation and swap progress stories
- If you have people who would like to support the cause financially, have them use the donation form to submit payment
