what makes us full?

At half full, llc, we believe business should be a force for good. Since our inception more than two decades ago, we’ve maintained our commitment to corporate social responsibility and our “do well, do good” business model.

Our name says it all. The "half" reflects our commitment to growing as a for profit business, and the "full" represents our unwavering dedication to giving back. We invest in our ecosystem — from community activism in our backyard in Rhode Island to purposeful partnerships across the globe to corporate service days with our clients.

Through our model, we are also proud to be able to offer our clients a complimentary consult with our Community Liaison on how to tackle community engagement —  from quick start opportunities to larger ways to give back.

Below, you can dive in further to a few of the ways we’re sparking the ripple effect of impact with our trusted clients, team members, partners, and larger community friends…

in our backyard: building a stronger Smith Hill

As proud business residents headquartered in the Smith Hill neighborhood in Providence, Rhode Island, we roll up our sleeves to uplift our community — not just in words, but in action.

In 2015, we co-founded the Smith Hill Partners’ Initiative (SHPI) which was created to bring together residents, agencies, homeowners, and local leaders to share resources and create collective progress. Through over 95 meetings, clean-ups, canvassing efforts, and development sessions, SHPI has helped align efforts and amplify community voices, from our Smith Hill Block Party to neighborhood clean-ups to the annual turkey drive.

Learn more about our Smith Hill community activism in our 2023 Impact Report. Want to get involved? Drop us a note!

We’re also proud to have launched in early 2024 the 02908 Merchant Association — a dynamic collective of small business owners across the North End of Providence, Rhode Island, coming together to create stronger connections, share resources, and elevate the local economy. Through monthly meet-ups, business spotlights, and collaborative events, the association is increasing visibility and foot traffic for small businesses, providing real-time communication channels between business owners, and fostering collaboration on neighborhood-wide initiatives.

across Rhode Island: youth forwards (retreats)

Created out of personal experiences and the challenges of growing up as teenagers, each summer, at no cost to participants or their families, half full offers our signature Youth Forward series — bringing together 20-25 high school students for immersive overnight experiences where teenagers are able to build strong relationships, learn about their strengths, and work on plans for moving forward as a teenager into adulthood.

We feel so grateful that almost 100 teenagers have attended our signature Youth Forwards, and all who have received a certificate of completion for 30 hours of what is ultimately Leadership Training.

Our Youth Forwards are free of charge to participants and are funded by the business, our seasonal merchandise sales, sponsors, and partners. To learn more about becoming a sponsor, click below
